In operation since 2007, Advanced Air maintains a perfect safety record while continuing to grow as a major player in the LA region’s charter market. Currently, the fleet consists of King Air 350s, Pilatus PC12's, Lear 45s/75, and a Challenger 604 with plans for adding more aircraft over the next twelve months. Advanced Air is an FAA approved, Part 135, On-Demand and Scheduled Air Carrier.

This job primarily operates in a turboprop (King Air 350). The Second in Command’s main responsibility is to call the PIC’s attention to any deviation from regulations, company policy or safe operating practices.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the pilot-in-command during all phases of flight in accordance with operating policies and procedures
  • Perform a visual pre-flight (walk-around) inspection prior to each flight
  • Perform a visual post-flight (walk-around) after each flight
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safety of the passengers, crewmembers, cargo, and the aircraft should the pilot-in-command become incapacitated or unable to perform his/her duties
  • Have primary operational responsibility for successfully completing the customer service portions of each leg as outlined in the policies and procedures manual
  • Review thoroughly and brief the pilot-in-command specifically on all customer service items including, but not limited to passenger pick up, passenger drop off, refueling, customs, private hangar pick up/drop off private hangar communications requirements, and passenger catering
  • Comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies and Procedures
  • INITIAL NEW-HIRE Consists of all ground training curriculum segments in their entirety, with the aircraft ground being specific to the type(s) of aircraft in which the airman is to qualify. The flight training will cover all required events and maneuvers with none being waived by the qualified flight instructor. Crewmember Training will be recorded on AA Training Form 301
  • Update flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment and ensure any aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported to the Captain and reported in accordance with operating policy and procedure
  • Participate proactively in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and quality issues. Provide timely input to management and apply systems processes to address quality and safety issues. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the pilot-in-command, the Chief Pilot or higher authority

What you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current US Passport with at least 6 months remaining at all times during employment period
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the general operations manual, FAA Regulations, operations specifications, flight manuals, standard operating procedures, and company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to complete our pilot training indoctrination program consists of: ground school, online computer based training, flight training in the aircraft during normal operations. At the conclusion of this a pilot is expected to perform at a level to pass the appropriate 135 checks to qualify as a company SIC
  • The pilot must hold at least a commercial pilot certificate for multi-engine and aircraft with an instrument rating as the minimum experience to be an SIC for an aircraft in the general-purpose multi-engine family of aircraft
  • ALL PILOTS must have successfully passed an oral/written examination administered by an FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman, or a representative of the Administrator within the preceding 12 calendar months required by FAR 135.293 (a)
  • ALL PILOTS must have successfully completed a competency check administered in the type of airplane within the preceding 12 calendar months conducted by a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman or an FAA inspector, as required by FAR 135.293 (b)
  • ALL PIC IFR PILOTS must have completed the 6-month IFR proficiency check given by an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman (FAR 135.297).
  • Must have demonstrated enroute, arrival and departure procedures by completing an enroute check (FAR 135.299) with an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airmen
  • FCC Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit
  • 500 hours Fixed Wing 
  • No Aviation Incidents or Accidents 
  • ATP Multi-Engine (10+ Multi-engine hours) 
  • 91/135 Experience Preferred

Pilot Responsibilities Include:

- Trip Management: creating flight plans, weight, and balances, maintaining a high level of safety for each trip.
- Assisting in Aircraft Management: updating navigation databases, restocking aircraft supplies, making sure aircraft meet company pre/post flight requirements.

Advanced Air, LLC is a growing charter operation located in the center of Los Angeles’ aviation cradle along with sister company Jet Center Los Angeles at the Hawthorne Airport, KHHR. In operation since 2007, Advanced Air maintains a perfect safety record while continuing to grow as a major player in the LA region’s charter market. Currently, the fleet consists of King Air 350s, Pilatus PC12's, Lear 45s/75, and a Challenger 604 with plans for adding more aircraft over the next twelve months. Advanced Air is an FAA approved, Part 135, On-Demand and Scheduled Air Carrier.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the pilot-in-command during all phases of flight in accordance with operating policies and procedures
  • Perform a visual pre-flight (walk-around) inspection prior to each flight
  • Perform a visual post-flight (walk-around) after each flight
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safety of the passengers, crewmembers, cargo, and the aircraft should the pilot-in-command become incapacitated or unable to perform his/her duties
  • Have primary operational responsibility for successfully completing the customer service portions of each leg as outlined in the policies and procedures manual
  • Review thoroughly and brief the pilot-in-command specifically on all customer service items including, but not limited to passenger pick up, passenger drop off, refueling, customs, private hangar pick up/drop off private hangar communications requirements, and passenger catering
  • Comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies and Procedures
  • INITIAL NEW-HIRE Consists of all ground training curriculum segments in their entirety, with the aircraft ground being specific to the type(s) of aircraft in which the airman is to qualify. The flight training will cover all required events and maneuvers with none being waived by the qualified flight instructor. Crewmember Training will be recorded on AA Training Form 301
  • Update flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment and ensure any aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported to the Captain and reported in accordance with operating policy and procedure
  • Participate proactively in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and quality issues. Provide timely input to management and apply systems processes to address quality and safety issues. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the pilot-in-command, the Chief Pilot or higher authority

What you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current US Passport with at least 6 months remaining at all times during employment period
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the general operations manual, FAA Regulations, operations specifications, flight manuals, standard operating procedures, and company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to complete our pilot training indoctrination program consists of: ground school, online computer based training, flight training in the aircraft during normal operations. At the conclusion of this a pilot is expected to perform at a level to pass the appropriate 135 checks to qualify as a company SIC
  • The pilot must hold at least a commercial pilot certificate for multi-engine and aircraft with an instrument rating as the minimum experience to be an SIC for an aircraft in the general-purpose multi-engine family of aircraft
  • ALL PILOTS must have successfully passed an oral/written examination administered by an FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman, or a representative of the Administrator within the preceding 12 calendar months required by FAR 135.293 (a)
  • ALL PILOTS must have successfully completed a competency check administered in the type of airplane within the preceding 12 calendar months conducted by a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman or an FAA inspector, as required by FAR 135.293 (b)
  • ALL PIC IFR PILOTS must have completed the 6-month IFR proficiency check given by an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman (FAR 135.297).
  • Must have demonstrated enroute, arrival and departure procedures by completing an enroute check (FAR 135.299) with an FAA inspector or a FAA approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airmen
  • FCC Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit
  • 500 hours Fixed Wing 
  • No Aviation Incidents or Accidents 
  • ATP Multi-Engine (10+ Multi-engine hours) 
  • 91/135 Experience Preferred 
  • Must Live Within 2 Hours of HHR (Hawthorne Airport- upon employment)
  • US Passport

  • Must be able to pass FAA drug/alcohol screening, background checks and submit to random drug test when required
  • Maintain current FIRST class medical certificate as required by the company
